Network Engineer - New York

Description

• Design, implementation and support of network infrastructure including firewalls, routers and switches
• Policy creation, management and documentation regarding remote user connectivity (VPNs, VPN tunnels)
• Configure/setup, maintain and troubleshoot internal servers - automation of redundant processes
• Application and operating system tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Participate in infrastructure and capacity planning
• Installation of new Networking Equipment, Servers and Desktops/Laptops
• Recommend and implement modifications to the server environment, including troubleshooting and replacement of faulty system hardware
• Perform routine server updates/patching and software deployments
• Provide solutions and work closely with helpdesk support staff to support day to day activities

Requirements

• Strong Oral and Written communication skills
• 5+ years network and systems administration experience in multi-platform environments (Windows/Linux)
• Hands-on experience with high-availability, mission critical applications
• Experience setting up backup and replication schemes over the WAN for disaster recovery purposes
• Familiar with NETAPP technology a plus or other SAN environment
• Concrete understanding of Windows operating concepts (files, file systems, active directory, replication, processes, service and log management, users, Terminal services, permissions, I/O, devices, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of network architectures, protocols and security fundamentals - Cisco CCNP certificationa plus
• Expertise in configuring and maintaining Exchange 2000 & 2003
• Experience with Veritas Backup Exec.
• Expertise in configuring and maintaining network hardware/software - firewalls (Cisco PIX), switches, routers, etc.
• Familiar with Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and auditing procedures for security purposes
• Configure anti virus and other server protection software
• Configure and boot a hot-spare server from SAN Familiar with redundant switch and firewall configurations
• Plan, implement and test failover and failback procedures
• Maintain accurate server configuration change logs
• Maintain security audit logs
• Available for 24x7 on call emergencies
• Highly motivated and competent with decision-making ability to work without close supervision
• IIS configuration a plus
• Microsoft certifications and/or Security clearance a plus BA/BS in computer science or equivalent education desired but will consider hands on/real world experience
