Elizabeth Elting
Co-CEO
The TransPerfect/Translations.com family of companies was co-founded by Liz Elting and Phil Shawe in 1992. Today, TransPerfect/Translations.com is the world’s largest privately held provider of language and business services, and Elting and Shawe continue to run the company’s day-to-day operations. Elting has received numerous awards for her outstanding entrepreneurship, including Working Woman’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Award for Customer Service, the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Inc. 500 Award, and the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 Award four times. Elting was selected Woman of the Year by American Express and Entrepreneur. Crain’s New York Business has ranked TransPerfect as one of the one of the largest privately-held companies as well as one of the largest women-owned companies three years in a row. TransPerfect was also twice named one of the fastest-growing women-owned/led businesses in North America by Entrepreneur and the Women Presidents’ Organization.

Phil Shawe
Co-CEO

For the past three years in a row, TransPerfect/Translations.com has been named one of the largest privately-held companies by Crain's New York Business. The company has been featured in The New York Times, O, The Oprah Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and USA Today.
The recipient of numerous awards, including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the Inc. 500 Award, and the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 Award four times, Shawe has spoken at New York University and Columbia University. Shawe is a member of the Association for a Better New York (ABNY). Prior to his career in the language services industry, Shawe was a Financial Analyst at Chemical Bank and a Global Custody Consultant at Merrill Lynch. Shawe holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University's Stern School of Business, and he received his BS from the University of Florida where he triple majored in Finance, Marketing, and Risk Management.

Bernie Cafulli
President, Adams Globalization
Bernd (Bernie) Cafulli joined the Translations.com team in 2007 as part of the merger between Adams Globalization and Translations.com. He started at Adams as a German linguist in 1999, after consulting with Adams from Germany for two years. He soon became manager of the Linguistics department, where he developed and implemented our Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) quality procedures. He was named Vice President of Adams in 2001. Prior to joining Adams, Cafulli managed the development of one of the first software components to interface PC with UNIX networks. He has an extensive background in technical training, procurement and linguistics, along with English, German, and French translation. Cafulli holds the German equivalent of a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis on Computer Information Systems. He is a certified Transit CAT Administrator, as well as a certified EDP Specialist for Commercial Operations.

Brooke Christian
Senior Vice President of Global Sales
A. Brooke Christian is Senior Vice President of Global Sales for TransPerfect, the world's largest privately-held translation firm, which operates out of 50 offices on four continents. Christian, who is based in Washington DC, joined the firm shortly after it was founded in 1992. He has directed the company’s sales and marketing initiatives through a period of unprecedented growth.
Today, he is responsible for generating revenues exceeding $150 million. Christian’s ability to accurately predict areas of global growth within specific industries has positioned him as an industry leader. He directs a 300-person sales team worldwide and is responsible for the strategic approach to marketing that has set TransPefect apart in the translation arena. Most recently, Christian has focused his efforts on emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East. Christian speaks frequently at professional associations and meetings on issues affecting global growth and solutions-based marketing strategies. He has a Master's in Sports and Business Management and a BS in Business Administration, both from the University of Florida.

JJ Doyle
Division President, ArchiText
John J. Doyle joined the Translations.com team in 2006 as part of the merger between ArchiText and Translations.com. He started at ArchiText as Director of Operations in 2005, and was named Division President in 2008. He is also responsible for leading corporate wide vendor purchasing and cost reduction in the family of companies. Prior to joining ArchiText, Doyle held senior positions in some of the industry’s largest localization service providers. He has 15 years’ experiences in sales, production, operations, and purchasing. He holds diplomas in Business Administration and Information Technology from Senior College Dun Laoghaire in Ireland.

Stewart I. Edison

Stewart I. Edison, President of TransPerfect Legal Solutions, brings to the company significant experience in conducting and managing deposition projects for the leading multinationals and law firms. Edison and his team draw upon an extensive network of rigorously selected professionals who are located throughout the US and around the world. Prior to joining TransPerfect, Edison was General Manager of one of the nation’s leading deposition service companies and oversaw all sales and operations activities. With over a decade’s experience in developing systems to provide minimum markups to drive EBITA performance, Edison has become an industry leader. Edison holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Science from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Jordan Ellington
President, Deal Interactive
VP of Legal Technology
Jordan Ellington joined TransPerfect in April 2007 as Vice President of Legal Technology. As the founder of TransPerfect’s Deal Interactive division, Ellington brings over 20 years of application development experience designing systems for the corporate, financial and legal vertical markets. Since 1993 he has developed many internal and client-facing applications for major corporate and financial services law firms, as well as developing the extranets of three of the top twenty U.S. law firms. In 1998, he was a recipient of the American Express Chairman's Award for Quality. In 1999, he founded Deal Interactive to service the secure document hosting and collaboration needs of global businesses, and to this day, continues to drive software development and manage the day-to-day operations of the business.

Hans Fenstermacher
Vice President, Translations.com
Hans Fenstermacher joined the company in 2006 when Translations.com merged with ArchiText, the company he founded in 1994. Born in Germany, Fenstermacher speaks six languages. Over his 26-year career in the language and content industries, he has worked as a translator, interpreter, and case study writer, including stints with the International Olympic Committee, Turner Broadcasting, and the US Department of Defense. He has been involved in nearly every aspect of the language services industry, from authoring to cultural adaptation to multilingual delivery. Fenstermacher pioneered the ABREVE® process, a proprietary English content globalization system designed to reduce content volume, improve content usability, and optimize content efficiency. Fenstermacher was Founding Chairman of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) and is an Associate Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication. He holds a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Anita Ganapathi
COO, Quagnito Solutions
Anita Ganapathi is the COO and Co-Founder of Quagnito Solutions. She is responsible for strategic business positioning and operations. Quagnito Solutions was founded in 2005 and has since provided localization engineering services to clients in the USA and Europe. The company merged with Translations.com in October 2008. Having worked in the software field for over 20 years, Ganapathi has extensive experience in establishing and managing offshore services and business outsourcing models. She has worked with large global organizations for the implementation of Business Intelligence, ERP and Knowledge Management Systems, where she successfully developed new markets in the Middle East and Europe. She has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Pune, India.

Martijn Heertje
President, iSP
Martijn Heertje is President of the iSP division of Translations.com. At iSP he is responsible for worldwide operations and finance with locations in Asia and Europe. Today, Heertje brings iSP's unique expertise in software localization, engineering, QA testing, and development to Translations.com. Having earlier served as Operations Manager, Project Manager, and DTP Specialist, he has over 15 years of experience in the localization industry. After completing high school in Amsterdam, Martijn studied in the United States at Oregon State University (OSU) in Corvallis, and at the University of Amsterdam.

Geert Heijink
President, Overtaal
Geert Heijink started his career at TransPerfect in May 2008 when Overtaal BV, a language provider based in the Netherlands, merged with TransPerfect. When he joined Overtaal in 2000 as Co-Director, Heijink’s goal was to help the rapidly growing company strengthen their IT and HR operations. Before joining Overtaal he was an IT Manager at several banking institutions in the Netherlands, such as Eurocard and Interpay. Heijink holds a degree in Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Overtaal specializes in translations for European institutions and localization of ERP software for SAP and Oracle, and provides language training for companies and individuals.

Marc Johnson
Division President, Oregon
Marc Johnson is the Division President of TransPerfect’s Oregon operations. Johnson joined TerraPacific in 1990 as a Project Manager. In 1995, he left TerraPacific to become a full-time employee of Hewlett-Packard Company as a Localization Engineer. He rejoined the company as CIO of Oregon operations prior to TerraPacific merging with TransPerfect. Currently, Johnson is responsible for production, profitability, and general operations of west-coast production. Johnson has lived in Asia and Europe and speaks Japanese and French. Johnson holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of California, at Santa Cruz.

Steven R. Kaplan

Steven R. Kaplan is President of TransPerfect Legal Solutions. Kaplan joined TransPerfect's rapidly growing document management business in 2004. Kaplan is responsible for the daily operation and growth in 24 locations worldwide. Prior to joining TransPerfect, Kaplan spent most of his career at IKON Office Solutions where he began as an Account Manager and was eventually named President of the New Jersey Marketplace. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the State University of New York, College of New Paltz.

Marc H. Miller
President, Crimson Life Sciences
Vice President of Quality Systems
Marc H. Miller is President of the Crimson Life Sciences Division and Vice President of Quality Systems for TransPerfect. Originally founded in 1992, Crimson became part of the TransPerfect family of companies in 2005, and is the only translation organization in the world to be ISO 14971:2000-certified and hold certifications to both ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003. Prior to founding Crimson, Miller worked as a Senior Research Associate for the strategy consulting firm, S.I.A.R, where he authored assessments for US and European medical technology companies. Miller earned his his BA degree in Celtic Languages and Literature from Harvard University and MBA degree in Marketing from the Scottish Business School at Stirling University, Scotland.

Tony O’Dowd
President, Alchemy Software Development
Tony O’Dowd is Founder and President of Alchemy Software Development, the market leader in visual localization technology. The company’s flagship product, Alchemy CATALYST, is employed by 80% of the world’s largest software companies to accelerate entry to international markets. Alchemy also offers Alchemy PUBLISHER, an advanced TM solution for documentation, and Alchemy Language Exchange, a web-based TM database server. Alchemy successfully merged with Translations.com in 2007 and is now a fully autonomous division.
Prior to founding Alchemy, O’Dowd acted as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Corel Corporation Limited and Technology Manager for Symantec Corporation. At both companies, O’Dowd pioneered a simultaneous release strategy for localization that is still in practice to this day. In his earlier career, O’Dowd held lead development positions at Norton Commander and Lotus Development Corporation. He is a founder of FIT Ltd., a $20 million government training organization for the long term unemployed, as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Localization Professionals. He received his BSC in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin.

Hélène Pielmeier
President, Iverson Language Associates
Hélène Pielmeier was named President of Iverson Language Associates in 2010 after company founder Steve Iverson retired after 24 years. A veteran of the company, Pielmeier has served Iverson in a number of roles. Most recently, she served as Chief Operating Officer; prior to that, she also spent time as Director of Client Services, Senior Project Manager, and the Midwest Account Executive.
Pielmeier holds a master's degree in French Translation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also studied at the Université des Sciences Humaines of Strasbourg, France, where she earned a master's degree in Specialized Translation with an emphasis in English and German. Pielmeier is a former Associate Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she taught Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT).

Michael Sank
Vice President of Corporate Strategy
Michael Sank joined TransPerfect as a salesperson in 1997 when he opened the Los Angeles office. He subsequently led the company’s global expansion as Vice President of International Operations, during which time he lived in London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Hong Kong, managing all sales and production in Europe and Asia. In his current role, Sank manages partnerships and other strategic ventures as well as M&A activity – including the company’s mergers with Crimson, ArchiText, iSP, Overtaal, Quagnito, and Iverson. Working with incoming management, he has contributed to the integration, employee retention, growth, and overall success of these merger partners within the TransPerfect framework. In 2009 he served as Chairman of the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA). He holds a BA, with Distinction in English, from San Diego State University. |
